May Challenge

Last month, I made myself a goal to walk/jog everyday.  Read about it here.
I did 50 miles for the month of April.

For the month of May, I knew I wanted to keep up my daily walking.  I didn't have a goal in mind for the total I wanted to walk.  I'm still walking/jogging on my treadmill.  I still have the incline on 3.0 and my speed is still on 3.0 or 3.2.  For jogging my speed is on 4.0.

9th- 1 hour- 3.1 miles
10th- 1 hour- 3.1 miles
11th- 20 minutes- 1 mile
12th- 20 minutes- 1.1 miles
13th- 20 minutes- 1 mile
14th- 20 minutes- 1 mile
15th- 20 minutes- 1 mile
16th- 1 hour- 3.0 miles
17th- walk to hotel; walk on beach
18th- 30 minutes- 1.5 miles; walk on beach

= 45 miles for the MONTH!  I didn't walk every day because sometimes life gets in the way and that's okay.  I'm still happy with making it to 45 miles for the month.

2015 Garden Update- #21

My garden is still doing great.  :)

This was from this evening after a nice drink of water.

I did do some rearranging a few days ago.  I had some plants near each other that don't like to be near each other so I had to fix that.

-Beans don't like peppers or marigolds
-Broccoli don't like peppers, squash or tomatoes
-Tomatoes don't like broccoli or cucumbers
-Sunflowers don't like anyone  LOL
-Peas don't like peppers

In my greenhouse:

I have my first marigold.  It sprouted a few days ago.

Today, I have 2 sprouts.  :)

A few days ago I had 3 sunflowers.

Now I have several.  :)  Yes, I just dropped a bunch of seeds in one pot.

In my garden:

Squash blossom.

Petunias.  One of the best dollars I ever spent.

Another dollar flower.

Green beans
Something is eating the leaves.  :(

My broccoli from seed is doing much better.

Here's my other broccoli.  Also my blueberry bush, rose bush and cucumbers.

In my front flower bed:

Sweet pea flowers

In my kitchen:

I started to regrow some celery from the base.  I didn't take a before picture.
This was 2 days later.

This is this morning.  (5 days later)

Produce Stand 5/31

I ran my normal Sunday errands today.  I made a stop at my favorite farm stand so I could get cucumbers and peppers.

I got:

2 big peppers
3 cucumbers
2 zucchini balls

All for $4.20.  :)

"Share the road" sign.  :)

Here's everything I got.

Here's my zucchini balls.  They are about baseball size.

I don't know why but they just look adorable to me.  haha

I plan to slice up the balls and make some mini pizzas at work.  I have some turkey pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce.  I was just gonna zap them in the microwave till cheese is melted.  :)

Saturday fun 5/30

I got up way too early for a Saturday.  5:15am so I could get up and get to my sisters for a yard sale.
Here's my niece checking on us with Uncle Dave before going back inside to watch Curious George.

We all did good.  I made $50.  Woot!  I didn't have much to sell so I'm surprised I made that much.  Once the yard sale was over we packed the leftovers up and took those to goodwill.

Resting after yard sale.  Love the flip flops.  :)

We were all very hangry so we decided to go to Outback Steakhouse.  YUM!!

Later, on we decided to go to Sweet Frog for some froyo.  I hadn't had it in a long time so I was excited.  Here's E digging in hers.

After froyo, we went to a playground at a church that's open to the public.

I even played on the swing, seesaw and slide.  So much fun.  How come there aren't any adult playgrounds where we can go swing on our lunch break or something?

E being cute.  :)

We had a fun and successful day.  :)

Meal Prepping 5/25

I did some meal prepping today.  It makes things easier and saves time during the work week.  I normally try to do my meal prepping every Sunday.  I didn't do it yesterday so I figured I'd do it today since I was off from work.

First, I gathered all the veggies and washed them.

I chopped everything up.

Zucchini and Squash

Green Beans

Bonita Squash balls

I got a pack of fresh chicken thighs for $5 at Target.  There was a $2 coupon for it.  Yes please!  There are 6 thighs that I can chop up for lunches at work this week.

Here's some of what I prepped.

I also made chicken salad for lunches and sliced up some cucumbers.

Strawberry Picking 2015

I had the day off today.  I woke up early this morning to go to Miller Farms and pick strawberries.  I got there about 15 minutes early (7:45am) and waited in my car until they opened at 8am.

I walked towards the patch.  I stopped at the shed and picked up a flat to put berries in.  They were out of the baskets they normally have so the box was fine.  I was planning on picking a bunch because I was going to take some to my parents.

Here's the strawberry patch.  I was the first customer this morning.  There were a few workers picking at the far end for the market.

I walked a half way down and then started picking the bright ripened berries.

Then some families started showing up with their little ones.

Mmmmmmm......and yes I did sneak a two berries to eat.  :)  I couldn't resist.

Berries were everywhere.

Strawberry flower

A handful of strawberries.

The flat is filling up fast.

I took a cute picture with my garden hat.  :)

More strawberry flowers.

Ripe Strawberry

I wore my toms since I forgot to grab my sneakers.  Luckily, my toms were in my car so I took of my flip flops and put the toms on.  They got muddy though but it was better than wearing flip flops there.

After I was done picking, I got my berries weighed.  I got around 9 pounds.  :)

I then headed to the market to pay and check out the new building.  The farm had everything redone and it looks great.  There is a lot of room for goodies.  It looks really nice.

Here's the other side of the front.

There was pre-picked strawberries inside for purchase.

I bought a plain pound cake from the farm shop to have for dessert tonight with some freshly picked berries.  :)

There was a few adorable strawberry sugar cookies.  They were too pretty to eat.

After I walked around in the shop, I walked to the greenhouse to see what plants were in there.  Here's the potting station with dirt.

Plenty of flowers, tomatoes and herbs in the greenhouse.

Nice Hostas.

Cute area with pots and signs.  I really like the sign in left corner.  It says "homegrown vegetables".

I paid for my stuff and then left.  I bought myself one of the strawberry sugar cookies.  It was so good and it was worth every penny and every calorie.  haha

I had a nice day!  :)

I took the berries to my parents.  My dad started grabbing them as soon as I took them out of the car.  He said they were the best strawberries he'd had in a long time.  He kept grabbing and eating.  haha  I had my mom get some containers and she filled them up with some berries.  :)

When I brought the rest of the berries home, I put them in a container and put them in the fridge.

I can't wait to have some later with the homemade pound cake and a little sugar free cool whip.  :)
