Christmas 2012 Decorating

This past Friday night, I worked for my boss earlier in the day so I had the night off.  :)  I figured, I would go ahead and decorate for the Holiday's.  Nate helped with a few things and Harley helped by just being cute.  Harley loves to sleep/lay under the tree on the skirt.  :)

We got Chinese Food for dinner.  :)

Homemade Trail Mix

Nate mentioned yesterday that he wanted some trail mix.  I told him I would make him trail mix.  It's something I'd been wanting to do so I actually got excited thinking about the different ingredients to combine.  I looked on Pinterest last night at different trail mixes just to see what other people add.  I knew Nate would love nuts, chocolate and peanut butter so those were the first 3 ingredients I knew I would use.  I checked the pantry to see what I had on hand that would work and then made a list of other options to get from the grocery store.

Here's what I used for my homemade trail mix.

Raisins
Chocolate chips
Peanuts
Cashews
Pretzels
Craisins
Chex Cereal
Peanut butter chips

Lucky for me, I only had to buy the last 3 ingredients.  I had everything else in my pantry.

Get a big bowl and mix your trail mix together.  I didn't measure anything.  I just eyeballed it.  Once mixed I added the trail mix to a tupperware container and put the lid on.  This would be a good little snack to add to ziploc bags and take with you.  :)  This is the perfect sweet and salty combination.

You can pretty much add whatever you want.  There's no wrong way.  :)

Stamps

I haven't gotten postage stamps in a while.  Today, I stopped by the post office to get some stamps at the kiosk because I forgot to get some at the grocery store.  When they printed out this is what came out of the machine.

I was confused.  Where are the cute little squared postage stamps?  You know the ones I'm talking about....the American Flag, the Christmas ones, etc.  I was so confused.  I walked over to a counter where I saw a young lady putting these exact same stamps on a bunch of cards she was mailing.  I asked her "Are these the new stamps now" and she laughed and said "I think so".

Now you're prepared if you get stamps and they look something like this.  I just googled and came across this site.  I guess you're able to chose a picture but the machine didn't give me that option.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2

Today, we went and saw Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2.  The final installment of the Twilight series.

Kristen, got the movie tickets in advance and picked out our seats so we wouldn't have to be worried that it was sold out.  Thanks dude!!  We went to CineBistro.  This is an awesome place to go for girls night or date night with the loved one.  So comfy and cozy!  :)

We waited at the lobby area until we were allowed to be seated.  Kristen and Sharon both got "The Cullen" drinks.  haha  :)  Melissa H and I got sodas.  Crystal and Melissa P got there right when our seating was called.  Perfect timing!  :)

We finally got to our seats and ordered our yummy food.  I got the Grilled Chicken BLT!  It was awesome.  I loved it! I also shared popcorn with Melissa H.  Kristen paid the food bill which of course was not necessary.  She's so sweet and nice to us.  Thanks again Kristen!  :)

About the movie....I don't want to spoil it.  It was THAT.AWESOME.  OMG!  Total surprise towards the end that takes your breath away for for a minute or two.  I think the ending of the movie is much better than the book.  :)

Movie Previews that were shown that Iwant to see.....

Joe's Birthday 2012

For Joe's birthday this year we all went to dinner at Dave & Busters.  Joe, Sharon, Agnes, Ashley, Kristen, Dave, Nate and I all came out.

To start, Nate and I got some potato ball things.  I forget the real name.  They are new and not listed on the online menu yet.  Oh well!  They were fried potatoes with some parsley and parm cheese sprinkled on top.  They were served in this cute little wire fryer basket.  Adorbs!!

For my meal, I got the Original Bar burgers.  They were pretty good and so were the seasoned fries that came with it.  I don't remember what Nate ordered but he ate it all up.  LOL

After we were done eating some of us played games while others watched.  Here's Dave playing some game.  I saw him here most of the time.  LOL

Kristen and Sharon got hooked on the coin game where you try to get coins to fall.  It's pretty addicting.

Agnes looking up at the camera.  :)

I pretty much just went around taking pictures of everyone and playing with Agnes.  Here she is at the biggest claw machine I've ever seen.  I think she wants her daddy to get her all these stuffed animals.

Here's Kristen's pile of tickets.  OMG! ahahahaha

After everyone was done playing games and cashing in the tickets we drove across the street to get us some Sweet Frog for dessert.  We pulled up some chairs and tables outside and sat there eating ice cream and chatting.  It was a lot of fun.  I think Joe had a great birthday.  :)

I got chocolate yogurt, and peanut butter yogurt.  Then I added some crushed reese cups on top and some peanut butter sauce.  :)  YUM!

Yum Yums

Earlier, this year (for Easter) my BFF, Kristen made something called Yum Yums.  I'm not sure if this is the real name or if it's a name she came up with but their name says it all.  :)  Kristen, got the idea off Pinterest.  Nate needed something this week for a work party and I had everything to make yum yums so I made them for him.  They were a hit and Nate had to make some more that night to take in the following day.  :)

They are so simple and easy to put together and best of all....the really take no time at all.

You will need:

*Pretzel Snaps (Kristen said they hold the chocolate better and I agree)
*Hershey's hugs or kisses or both
*M&M's (any color you'd like)

That's it!  3 simple items.  How easy huh?

I planned on doing just hugs but ran out of them and used kisses to finish off the tray.

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees.  Arrange pretzel snaps on cookie sheet.  Remove the foil from your hugs/kisses.  This was the annoying part.  LOL  After you have your hugs/kisses ready to go place one on top of pretzel snaps.  Then bake for 2 to 3 minutes or until chocolate is soft and shiny.  Remove from oven and immediately put a M&M pressing down gently.  Kristen mentioned logo side down if you don't want to commercialize and I agree.  :)  Place in the fridge for about 10 minutes until firm.  Store at room temperature in a air tight container.  Enjoy!  :)

Rock Swap 2012

A couple weeks ago my sister, Ashley invited Nate and I to a rock swap.  She knew we had rocks just sitting around the house and figured we'd like to make some extra money selling them.  We gathered up our things and headed down to Richmond to the Rock Swap.

The rock swap was free to participate in.  They just asked for a item donation that the rock/gem club could auction off later.

Ashley did this show last year with her husband, Daniel selling shark teeth.  Daniel had to work so Ashley met us and sold some shark teeth.  I really liked the chossils she made to sell which are chocolate shark teeth.  They are awesome!  :)

Here's my raw amethyst I found over the years at Morefield Gem Mine.  I let a few little kids take a piece for free just to see their smiling, excited faces.  :)

My mom gave us some of her gems that she's had stored away for years.  She'd gotten them off the Jewelry Television channel.

Here's some more gems we sold for my mom.

We made a few bucks and some extra money for my mom.  We decided to pack up at 1pm and head somewhere for lunch.  Ashley suggested Plaza Azteca.  It's a Mexican Restaurant.  It was delicious.  :)
