New Things Monday

My friend, Melissa mentioned to me about a Manwich that was BOLD and not original. Melissa said her family loved it so much that they won't go back to the original manwich sauce. I love manwich. We probably have it at least once a week b/c it's so quick and easy to make. The other day I decided to try it. It was ok. I wasn't like OMG. Nate said "did you do something different"? LOL He noticed the taste. I didn't know if that was good or bad. LOL He said it was good but he liked the original sauce better. Thanks for the suggestion Melissa but I think we'll stick to the original. LOL :)

New Things Monday

Yep, Wegmans again. :) Every time, I'm at the check out line I see these stacked above the gum and candy. It's Peanut Butter Pretzel nuggets.....pretzels filled with peanut butter. They are sooo good. No wonder I always see people buying them. They are that good. :) Thanks for Kristen who brought these over on Saturday, and thanks for Kristen for suggesting to feature them today in 'New things Monday'. :)

New Things Monday

Wegmans Peanut Butter Candy Sundae Ice cream cups. It's Vanilla ice cream with fudge, peanut butter and peanut butter candy pieces. I liked them. The vanilla ice cream was ok to me, but I think it could be better. I would buy them again. :)

Cake Pops with Ashez

Ashley and I made some cake pops tonight. We're going to Kristen's tomorrow (or technically later today since it is after midnight..haha) for a Girl's Brunch and thought we could give these out. :)

We made devils food cake with purple, white, red and light pink coating. :)

How cute? :)

All packaged up and ready to go. :)

Oh.....Remember those sprinkles I told you I used in and on my cupcakes that I got from Wegmans? Well Ashley saw them and thought we could use them for the cake pops. And then she saw for the whole tub that I paid a little over a $1. :)

Valentine's Cupcakes

I decided to make some Valentine's Cupcakes tonight. That surely put a smile on Nate's and Kirk's faces. :)

I used a Pillsbury white cake mix. I also had a tub of Valentine's sprinkles I got from Wegman's a few weeks ago. After I mixed the cake mix, I added in some sprinkles.

How cute? :) I also had some Valentine's M&M's and put some of those on a few of the cupcakes. :)

Peanut Butter Cookies with Reeses Peanut Butter Hearts

Kristen makes some awesome PB cookies! I made some today. I used the Betty Crocker PB cookie mix. After they were baked I topped them off with a Reeses PB Heart. Perfect for a Valentine's Day treat!! :)

MMMMMMMMMMMM! :)

Shake and Bake

Yesterday, my girls and I went to the Expo center for the big flea market. We had fun walking around and looking at things. (I bought a old microphone to add to my mic collection). After that we went to Olive Garden and had lunch celebrating Melissa's birthday! :) We had a great time. During, lunch Melissa mentioned making shake and bake chicken with bbq sauce. I took my chicken breasts, washed them, coated them with bbq sauce and then coated them with the shake and bake. I put them on a cookie sheet and baked them till they were 165 degrees. They look yummy. I have some whole grain rice and corn as sides. MMMMM! :) Thanks Melissa!!!

New Things Monday

I had Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time. OMG....The boneless wings are by far the best wings ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Look at all the many sauces. :) I liked the regular sauce and Nate loves the parmesan garlic sauce.

Record Player

Nate found a record player on Craigslist for $40! We'd been looking for a cabinet type record player and this one is awesome. All the ones we were finding were $150-$300. The one we got only needs a record player needle, which Nate found on the internets for $6.99! Woo-hoo! Once we get the needle in place and put the record player where we want it I'll take some more pictures! :)

Looks like a cabinet. :)

The record player is down inside the top. The top drawers slide to reveal the record player.

Virginia Beach Polar Plunge 2011

This weekend was an eventful one. Nate participated in the Polar Plunge again this year. The polar plunge raises money for the Special Olympics. We decided to head down to VA Beach Friday afternoon and spend the night. Kristen and Dave joined us. Once we got to VA Beach we found the Ramada and Nate checked in. Alone he raised a little over $400. He received a really cool t-shirt and a
towel.

While Nate checked in, the rest of us waited in the car. I thought the sign above with the no cussing was funny. They were everywhere. LOL I was hoping to find a sticker to buy but didn't. haha

We stayed at the Grand Ocean Hotel. We knew at $50 a night that it wouldn't be the best place to stay. haha The picture above of the hotel.....well, it's nice looking on the outside, but don't let it mislead you. The hotel receptionist um....I think had been on drugs, and well needed to put some clothes on. We had people on our floor smoking stuff that I would guess wasn't for medicinal purposes. haha Our bathroom was a little scary. The tub was kinda blackish and gross. And the tile must have been caulked a million times. The bathroom door also had a fist hole like someone punched it one time. As long as I didn't get bed bugs or some other disease I was fine and thankfully I did not. LOL :)

After we were checked in we went to dinner at the Raven Restaurant across the street from our hotel. It was good food!

I brought my poker chips, cards and my cheat sheet my dad made me when I was little and we played poker. It was fun! :)

Sand sculpture

The Special Olympic Athletes did their polar plunge first and then all the teams went. This little boy was especially cute running back up. I heard him say "That was cold". :)

Getting ready to go....

Just waiting...

There were lots of costumes....polar bears, veggies, engergizer bunnies, alice and wonderland, gnomes, bikini clad women, a couple guys in speedos....my favorite was the Asparagus. haha

Everyone coming back in from the plunge. Nate said the water was 45 degrees! BRRRRrrr....Also looks like the grand total raised from this event was the most in the 19 year history with a cool million! AWESOME! :)

Nate with his office girls. (Carrie, Brittney, and Sharon)

On the way home, we stopped in Williamsburg to Paul's deli Restaurant that Dave suggested. It kinda reminded me of a place we used to have here in FXBG. (Spanky's) It was good and of course fun times with our best friends. :)

Homemade Blueberry Ice Cream

Looks good doesn't it? Well not so much. :( I was soooooo disappointed in this. :( I think I need to find a better recipe.

2 cups blueberries
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups heavy cream

In a saucepan bring blueberries, sugar and salt to a boil. Mash berries. Simmer mixture for 5 min and let cool slightly. In a blender puree' the mixture with milk and heavy cream. Turn on ice cream maker then add your mix to the ice cream bowl. Let mix for 20-25 min. Then freeze.

I don't know why it didn't taste good. All I could really taste was the heavy cream. I'm thinking that maybe it needed more sugar. If anyone knows of a good blueberry ice cream recipe, I'm willing to try it so let me know. :)
