Homemade Taco Seasoning

My BFF made me a big ball jar of homemade taco seasoning.  I was running really low and needed some more so she gave me her recipe with all the measurements.

I used up all the spices I had, plus some of K's.  I needed just a little more cumin and paprika so I went to food lion the other day and picked up what I needed.  I like getting the Badia brand.  It's always so much cheaper than most brands.

Mix everything up really good and store in a ball jar.

I made some little sample bags to see how they'd turn out.  K and I figured we could start selling the taco seasoning at our craft shows.  And maybe make some sample bags to give out.

These are so much better for you since it's just the spices.  Have you ever read the ingredients on the back of the store bought packets.  There's words you can't pronounce or things you don't even know what they are.  Why is all of that in there?  Gross and no thanks.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Last weekend, Nate and I met our BFF's at the movies so we could see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 together.  I was crazy trying to pick a day that we were all free but I knew it would all work out and it did.  YAY  We've seen all the movies together so it's kinda a tradition that we saw this last one in the series together.

K had given me a gift card to Cinebistro for my birthday this year.  I saved it and bought my tickets. I saw online that if you donate a minimum of 4 canned goods per person per day you get a free movie ticket.  So, I got 4 canned goods each for Nate and me to donate.  When I picked up our movie tickets, we gave them the canned foods and got tickets.  We also got a free candy coupon.  :)

Special menu for the movie.

Kristen had given me a FREE popcorn coupon to use too so we redeemed that.  For our free candy I picked Peanut M&M's which we ate on the way home.

I got the burger with fries.  I love the burger.  Nate got a salad with a side of fries and so did K but a side of sweet potato fries instead.  D got sliders.  They looked awesome.

The movie was good.  Gave me good closure.  I have not read the books.  I borrowed them but just never read them.  I liked the movie.  Who doesn't like JLAW or Natalie Dormer?  LOL  :)

Garden Update #44

I saw a tip on pinterest to bubble wrap your plants if you keep them in containers.  This helps to keep the plant babies warm during the cold months.  I got some bubble wrap from a coworker who didn't need it.  I knew I'd use it for my plants.

Here's my greenhouse with my babies that need to be wrapped.

I cleaned up a little and put everything on my bench.  I had just enough bubble wrap.  I did not plant my rose bush (teal pot).  I will probably just put a plastic bag on that plant.

Here's one of my succulents.

Sago palm

Another succulent.  I got this for $1 at Lowes.  It's getting so big.  :)

My hibiscus.

My green bean plant.  Not looking happy.  The cold might have damaged it before I could wrap him.

Inside.....Here's my pumpkin sprouts.

I might have a bloom soon?  I believe this is a male flower.  The small one below is probably the female flower.  Since these are indoors I will have to hand pollinate the female if I want to get fruit.  Plus, I will probably need to plant these plants in soil.

I love this one because the seed shell is still attached.  It makes me smile.

I am also happy to say.....my orchids are growing new stems and blossoms.

My celery plant that was a base and has been regrown 3 times now is growing more.  :)

And the new base I just planted in water last week is growing.  :)

Meherrin Craft Show 2015

Last weekend, my BFF and I had another craft show.  This time it was past Richmond at a volunteer fire department in Meherrin.  The set up was awesome.  We were inside the firehouse and it was very clean.

Her's a peak of the inside.  There were many customers.  Stayed busy.  Some people would come up and say "Is this the table with the good cookies".  haha  :)

Here's our table.  We had plenty of extracts and baked goods to sell.

FREE SAMPLES get people to the table.

Pure Homemade Extracts sign.

Kristen made vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream.  These were soooooo good.  In fact, they sold out.  YAY!  :)  My brownies are sitting next to the cupcakes.  I also sold out of my orange cranberry cookies and oatmeal cookies.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

We have a cute gift set we introduced.  It's a bag with a pot holder, cookie cutter, and extract.  Whoever buys a gift set also gets a free baked good.  We didn't sell any at this craft show.  We hope the one next month will be better for that since customers will be looking for gift ideas.

We had fun and we both made money at this show.  We made back out cost spent and then some.  :)  We loved this show and we would go back in the future.

Baking for a Craft Show

Last Friday, I baked, baked, baked and baked some more for goodies to sell with my extracts for another craft show with my BFF for the next day.

Here's what I made:

Orange Cranberry Sugar Cookies, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Brownies and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I bagged everything.

And tied them all with a ribbon.

All baked goods are $1 each and def worth it.  :)

2MUCH AND THE WTFS EPISODE 8 - THE WALKING DEAD FREDERICKSBURG

I love The Walking Dead.  A few weeks back my husband and I did a podcast with my coworker DJ2MUCH and his friend DollaBill.  We talked walking dead for over an hour and it was awesome.

Here's 2MUCH with his set up.

DJ2MUCH printed out copies with blurbs from each season if we needed to go back to look something up.  So cool.

About the podcast:

On todays episode we talked about everything we could about The Walking Dead with Dolla Bill, B Millz, and The Tubesock Guy. Is Glen still alive? Will Rick get mad at Morgan for letting the wolves go? How would we survive? Who's are favorite character and more. Afterwards, we realized they're so much to talk about, that we couldn't cover it all. So there will be a part 2 of this convo after the mid season episode.
