Sugar Cookies with Candy Corn

While our whoopies were cooling we (Kristen and me) wanted to be creative. :) We thought about making a sugar cookie and melting candy corns to put on top of the cookies. We decided to experiment so we did.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
2 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Beat together butter and sugar on low speed of mixer until light and fluffy. Stir in flavorings and egg. Mix. Stir in flour and baking soda.

Using a small cookie scoop or two spoons, shape dough into balls. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Press cookie down slightly to flatten using the bottom of a glass which has been dipped in sugar. Colored or white sugar may be used.

Bake for 9-11 minutes, just until cookies have set. Remove cookies to a wire rack to cool. Do not overbake cookies

Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies, depending on size.

Roll the dough into balls. Take a plate and put some sugar on it. Then take a glass, dip it into the sugar and press it down on the dough ball. Look how perfectly round the cookies are. :)

We baked the cookies for about 9 minutes. If you bake them too long then they will harden so you want to take them out while they are just a little undone and they will stay soft. :)

mmmmmm :)

We thought it would be cool to melt candy corn and pour on top of some of the cookies. Then add a candy corn on top.

It was a cool idea. But it was not good. LOL FAIL!! But we tried! :)

These are def the easiest and best sugar cookies I've had. Love em! :)

  3. the cookies look perfect, minus the candy corn drizzle. candy corn is just corn syrup anyway so i can imagine it didn't taste all that great once melted. LOL

love the bottom of the cup idea to flatten the cookies perfectly.

  4. @ Ashley- We only put the candy corn drizzle on like 7 cookies. It seemed like a good idea but it didn't turn out like we wanted.

The cookies were awesome!! So, perfectly round, soft and good. :)
