Monticello with Nathan
Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence and the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom, third president of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia. One of the best things I heard about him......when he had to write down his occupation on a form he didn't put President etc. he put down 'farmer' b/c he felt that was his job and everything else he did was just in his spare time. He was a man who was ahead of his time.
Jefferson's House....Monticello which means 'Little Moutain' in Italian. It was lots of fun!!! We had to wait 2 hours to tour the house but there was plenty to do while we waited. (gift shop, movie, museum) This is the back view of the house. This is what you see on the back of the nickel. :)
Anyways we finally we took the bus up to the house. It was worth the wait.
One of my favorite rooms in the house. This is one of the guest rooms. James Madison normally stayed in this room. It was Octagon shaped. It had lots of room b/c the bed basically tucked into the wall.
This was Jefferson's cabinet or what we would call an office. It was neat to see. Nate liked the chair. :)
Here are some flowers from the gardens....
Cute purple/blueish flowers with a bumblebee. Too cute!!
Cute yellow flower
Tree stump by the house
Anyone know what these are???
Close up of the flower. they looked like little pumpkins or something. :)
Aerial view of Monticello. (Photo taken from Monticello's website and so are the ones from inside the house. You can't take photos inside).

awesome! that place is so cool - and you're right, TJ was ahead of his time. :) But I was kind of disappointed to hear that he didn't invent those things, just brought the ideas back from Europe...
