Garden Progress- Day 24

I'm not sure if you notice as much as I do but look how much my patio tomatoes are growing!  :)  Today, is Day 24 of my little deck/patio garden.  We've had some nice rains the last couple of days so I haven't had to worry about watering my plants.

They are all doing pretty good.  :)

The left plant is my red bell pepper.  I think I'm gonna have to re-pot it soon.  It's getting really big.  The plant on the right is my green bell pepper.  I started him later than the other 2 plants.  He's bigger than when I first got him.  I think all my plants are right on track.  :)

Quesadilla Burgers

I got inspired to make burgers a little different for dinner last night.  I saw Skinny Buffalo Burger Quesadillas and thought they looked easy and delicious.

You will need:

Meat (I wanted to get Buffalo meat like the blogger but it was $8 for a tiny package and instead I got a package of fresh hamburger patties for $4.80.  It was 80% lean and 20% fat).
Shredded Cheese (I used mild white cheddar)
Tortillas (I found small ones at my store that were the perfect size)
Pico de gallo (I used premade)
Bacon bits (I used real bacon bits....and of course this is optional)

First off, I cooked my patties till they were cooked all the way through.  (a few minutes on each side)  I cooked them like I normally do.  (W sauce, water, pepper, red pepper flakes, parsley flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, and a little Montreal steak seasoning).

Spray your pan with cooking spray.  Place a tortilla shell in the pan.  Sprinkle some cheese, bacon bits, and pico de gallo and a little more cheese.  Once it's melted together it holds pretty well.  I then cooked the other side the same way and once it was about done I added the cooked burger patty, put the top on and then it was done.  (I found this easier than adding the burger, piling on toppings then and trying to flip without any of the cheese and pico de gallo falling out).   <----hope I'm making sense.  :)

They turned out awesome!!  I loved the cheese and pico de gallo with the burger.  And tortilla shells are so much more better than a plain old hamburger bun.  Nate loved these a lot.  I know I'll be making these again.  :)

Strawberry Short Cut Cake

A quick and easy dessert.  :)  It's like a Strawberry shortcake but I'm calling it short cut cake b/c well all you do is assemble and eat.  haha  :)

Angel food cake (store bought or homemade)
Fresh Strawberries
Fat Free cool whip  (or make your own)
Chocolate bar  (you could use chocolate shavings, chocolate chips, etc.)

I cut a slice of cake, then added cool whip and strawberries.  I also tried shaving the chocolate bar and then I rushed (Once Upon A Time finale was starting) so I broke up the candy bar and split it between my plate and Nate's.  It was delicious!  :)

New Things Monday

My husband has been on a health kick.  It's been a year since he first started to lose weight.  He's almost at his goal of 100lbs.  Yes, he's almost loss 100lbs.  I'm so proud of him.  :)  Anyways, we went to Wegmans one evening and got a few groceries and he was excited to pick up Wasa crackers.  Someone at his work had brought them in and he was obsessed with getting some.  He loves putting humus on them.  I tried one the other day and the multi grain ones taste just like a triscuit cracker.  Be forewarned.....CRUMBS EVERYWHERE when you bite into one of these.  Make sure you have a plate or napkin to catch the crumbs.  haha

Garden Progress- Day 16

Today's day 16 of my little deck/patio garden.  I took the big pot I traded with Kristen at our yard sale and I put it in the barrel with the pot lid on the bottom.  I filled the pot with soil.

I then carefully took out my tomato plant from the little pot and added it to the big pot and of course then added more soil.

I then put the tomato cage back around it.  I hope it's in there right.  :)  After that, I watered the plant.  :)

I also got a crate from Kristen.  I figured I could put the peppers in there to keep them more protected.  I'm going to have to get a bigger pot for them eventually.  The bigger plant on the left is the red pepper and the one on the right is the green pepper.  They are both doing well.  Very healthy plants.  I might get them a tomato cage too.  I heard peppers like tomato cages.  I might be making another trip to Lowe's this week.

I have my little deck/patio garden in the corner of the back deck next to the house.  I can see them out the nook window and they make me smile.  :)

New Things Monday

I got a coupon out of my Sunday paper a few weeks ago for .50 cents off one Quaker Real Medleys.  While I was at Wegmans last week getting groceries I decided to get one to try.  I really hate plain oatmeal. I've tried it before and I'm just not a fan.  I know oatmeal is good for you so I wanted to try this to see if it could change my mind about Oatmeal.

I got the Apple Walnut Oatmeal.  It has chunks of walnuts, cranberries, green apple and whole grain oats.
My coupon was for .50 cents off.  My store doubles coupons up to .99 cents.  So, I got this for just .69 cents.  In my opinion, you can't go wrong with .69 cents.  haha

To make you remove the lid and seal.  Add water to the line inside cup, stir and put in microwave for :45 seconds.  I added :10 seconds to mine, making it :55 seconds.  Stir and let sit for 1 minute.  Then enjoy.  And well.....enjoy I DID!!!!  I loved it.  I loved the taste of the walnuts, cranberries, green apple and whole grain oats together.  I'm excited to get more.  There are 3 other flavors.  I might try them all.  I just know for sure I will be getting more of the Apple Walnut.  :)

Note:  I tried the Summer Berry on 5/14.  It smelled like fruity pebbles that had been sitting in a bowl for a few hours.  LOL  I did not like it at all.  I ended up throwing half of it away b/c I just couldn't finish it.

Pictures taken off google images.  :)

Yard Sale at Sharon's

Sharon's neighborhood had a yard sale over the weekend.  She invited us to sell things with her.  Kristen, Ashley and myself joined Sharon on Saturday morning to sell things we no longer wanted, needed or could use.

The sale was from 8 to 4.  I left my house at 7am and went right to Paul's Bakery for donuts.  :)

I got 2 dozen with a good assortment in each box.  They are the best donuts ever.  :)

Kristen had some gardening things that I kept eyeing.  I ended up getting the barrel thing on the left and a big planter with drain tray.  I thought it would be perfect for my tomato plant.  I made a trade with her.  She saw something on my table she wanted and said she'd trade the planters for it so I said deal.  :)  Overall, I think everyone made some good extra cash from the sale.  I only made $15.  Most of my things (ribbons, and gift supplies) were priced at .25 cents.  But hey, $15 is $15.  I'll take it.  haha

After the sale (we were done at noon) we cleaned up and took stuff that didn't sell to the goodwill and picked up lunch at Grioli's.  Sharon's mom bought us lunch.  She's so nice.  :)  We brought our lunch back to Sharon's and ate.  And of course we had to take pictures of Sharon's baby, Agnes.  We love her so much.  She's such a blessing.

Garden Progress- Day 12

I went to Lowes today and got a Green Bell Pepper Plant.  I just couldn't resist.  My other 2 plants are doing well and growing everyday so I figured I would grow a green bell pepper too.

As soon as I got home I put him in a pot with some soil.  Then I watered him real good.

I also took pictures of my tomato and red bell pepper plants so you can see how well they are doing.

Look how much they have grown!  :)

All 3 plants lined up in a row.  (Look how nice the deck looks....Nate power-washed our deck and fence over the weekend and they look brand new).

While at Lowes I also got a small tomato cage.  My friend, Crystal told me she put the cage on her tomato plant when it was first starting out so I thought that was a good suggestion.  I got this cage for $1.97.  It's still big and I know eventually I'll need to get a bigger pot.

All 3 plants...

I can't wait to start seeing tomatoes and peppers.  :)
