This weekend was an eventful one. Nate participated in the Polar Plunge again this year. The polar plunge raises money for the Special Olympics. We decided to head down to VA Beach Friday afternoon and spend the night. Kristen and Dave joined us. Once we got to VA Beach we found the Ramada and Nate checked in. Alone he raised a little over $400. He received a really cool t-shirt and a
towel.
While Nate checked in, the rest of us waited in the car. I thought the sign above with the no cussing was funny. They were everywhere. LOL I was hoping to find a sticker to buy but didn't. haha
We stayed at the Grand Ocean Hotel. We knew at $50 a night that it wouldn't be the best place to stay. haha The picture above of the hotel.....well, it's nice looking on the outside, but don't let it mislead you. The hotel receptionist um....I think had been on drugs, and well needed to put some clothes on. We had people on our floor smoking stuff that I would guess wasn't for medicinal purposes. haha Our bathroom was a little scary. The tub was kinda blackish and gross. And the tile must have been caulked a million times. The bathroom door also had a fist hole like someone punched it one time. As long as I didn't get bed bugs or some other disease I was fine and thankfully I did not. LOL :)
After we were checked in we went to dinner at the Raven Restaurant across the street from our hotel. It was good food!
I brought my poker chips, cards and my cheat sheet my dad made me when I was little and we played poker. It was fun! :)

The Special Olympic Athletes did their polar plunge first and then all the teams went. This little boy was especially cute running back up. I heard him say "That was cold". :)
Getting ready to go....
Just waiting...
There were lots of costumes....polar bears, veggies, engergizer bunnies, alice and wonderland, gnomes, bikini clad women, a couple guys in speedos....my favorite was the Asparagus. haha
Everyone coming back in from the plunge. Nate said the water was 45 degrees! BRRRRrrr....Also looks like the grand total raised from this event was the most in the 19 year history with a cool million! AWESOME! :)

On the way home, we stopped in Williamsburg to Paul's deli Restaurant that Dave suggested. It kinda reminded me of a place we used to have here in FXBG. (Spanky's) It was good and of course fun times with our best friends. :)
