New Things Monday

So, do you remember my trip to Woodstock, Virginia? I brought home a Persimmon. Never had one before. By the time I finally got around to trying it, the little thing had dried up a bit. OOPS! LOL I took a knife and cut into it and scooped out the fruity flesh. I tasted it and it wasn't that bad. It reminded me of an apricot. It wasn't chalky or bitter like Big Laura said it would be probably because it was overripe and a dried. :)

Surprise, Surprise

Nate surprised me today with a cute little Starbucks Ornament. How adorable is that? :) The other day one of my facebook friends posted a picture of one and I gasped and said "Nate look how cute this is" and he smiled at me. He surprised me with it today to thank me for helping him get stuff for a party he's having tomorrow for co-workers. :)

Baby Agnes

Love at first sight.........
Meet Agnes! She was born on Thursday, December 8th at 7:04pm. She is so precious and I can't wait to help our friends, Sharon and Joe spoil her. :) I'm so happy for them. Sharon and Joe have been waiting so long for her. Their prayers have finally been answered which continues to give me HOPE for Nate and I.

December 2011

Sorry, I've been slow at posting this week. I got sick (just something to do with my lovely autoimmune disorder...APS) earlier in the week and needed a break. :) I take on so much sometimes that I forget that I just need to say NO sometimes and slow down.

Last weekend, we had December birthday celebrations. The boys stayed at the house and played poker. They had plenty of food and snacks while the girls went out. The girls took Kristen to The Melting Pot to celebrate her birthday. Some of us girls hadn't been there and couldn't wait to try it. :)

Each table has cooking stations on it.

The first course is your cheese course. We got a Spinach Artichoke and a Wisconsin Three Cheese. We had tons of things to dip in the cheeses. Breads, chips, green apples, and veggies. It was sooooo good.

Our waiter took a group picture! :)

Here we are with our raw meats on a plate and on the burners are the broths warming up ready for our skewers. ;)

Skewers in the pot. Mine is the green handle one. :)

Dessert course we had a ton of things to dip in melted chocolates. Fruit, Rice Krispie treats, brownies, pound cake, cheesecake, marshmallows coats in oreo cookies and graham crackers. YUM! :)

The melting pot was a lot of fun. :) Here's our table after we got up. :)

After we got back to my house we opened gifts with the boys and had Kit Kat Cake. Sharon was so cute. She was due this past week and she kept on snacking. We loved how she used her bump to hold her chips. haha :)

Kit Kat Cake

This year for the birthday celebration for Nate, Kristen and Dave I made a Kit Kat Cake. Doesn't that just sound lovely?? Lovely it is and it's so easy and cute it will def be a hit at any party. I got the idea from Pinterest which is from this blog.

Kristen doesn't like chocolate cake and chocolate icing. I asked her what cake flavor she wanted and she said Funfetti. I made the Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix. I used a circular pan and baked the cake. Once cake is cool stack them and then ice them. I used vanilla icing. Detach Kit Kat bars leaving 2 together. Immediately, put around cake pressing into the icing. Sprinkle with M&M's then tie some ribbon around the Kit Kat bars. It's extra support and it looks cute. :) I got a ribbon with polka dots to kinda go with the M&M's and the Funfetti inside. :)

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I will be making this again. You can totally have fun with it. Use certain M&M's for a theme. Pink or blue for a baby shower with a pink or blue ribbon, valentine mix with a cute heart ribbon, Christmas mix with red and green ribbon, you get the point.....you can use any holiday. Be creative!! :)

New Things Monday

When I was little I had a butterfinger candy bar and threw it up. Since then I never ever touched another butterfinger. LOL This past Halloween, I grabbed a quick lunch at the Chick-fil-a drivethru. At the bottom of my bag I noticed a fun size candy bar. What a nice little surprise. It was a butterfinger. At first, I was like BLECH, but then figured it was time to go ahead and try it (AGAIN). I ate it. Nope, I didn't throw it up. I really don't care for them at all. So, if we are together and you have a butterfinger you will not have to worry about me laying a finger on your butterfinger. :)

New Things Monday

The last 2 weekends, I've had something I'd never ever tried. Sweet Potatoes and Sweet Potato Casserole!!! :) I definitely like the casserole better....probably b/c of the brown sugar and pecans. :) MMMMM!! Growing up my mother always made sweet potatoes for the family Thanksgiving dinners but I never once tried them. I just never found them appealing. I was also a picky eater when I was younger but I've really grown and love trying new things as an adult. :)

I saw a cute article in the local paper the other day. It's about a farmer who grew a 8lb sweet potato. You can read about it here. :)
